Life is beautiful. I really believe that. There is a lot of mess to life, but in the end, when we look back and see life as a whole, life is beautiful. Landscape and Nature photography is one way I can share the beauty I find every day in life. I picked up my first camera in 1975 and started taking pictures of my free trip, courtesy of “Uncle Sam,” overseas. Back then I was shooting with a 1960s era Canon Flex. That camera, which I may still have stored away somewhere, was a real workhorse. Encased in a heavy metal body, I could bang that camera around on my travels and never hurt it.
Then came a few years when life pushed me in other directions and photography took a back seat to bigger priorities. With the advent of digital photography I have returned and am excitedly learning photography all over again. It’s kind of like riding a bicycle. The basics haven’t changed. It is still about light and time, but there are so many new things, new technologies, to be discovered and learned, and amazing and powerful new tools to be used in the digital age of photography. The least of which is not of which is the Internet.
Concentrating mostly on landscape and nature, including wildlife, I am always branching out and experimenting. My main focus is on landscape and nature, but the simple fact is I enjoy photography so much, and want to learn new things about it, I will take almost any opportunity to make images and record this beautiful life which surround us all.
